William is an experienced founder/entrepreneur, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer who provides strategic and financial consulting services as a trusted advisor to entrepreneurs and company Boards. Engagements include companies that need strategic input on growth strategies (either start-up or early-stage), raising growth capital, restructuring/turnarounds, or even downsizing. Creative problem solving, in a hands-on manner and working directly with the CEO and the leadership team, is what interests him the most.
William has always had a foot in both technology and finance, from the time when he was a teenager to today. He built a computer when he was 13 years old and hasn’t looked back since. What excites him the most however, is the ability to translate the technical acumen into businesses that can deliver shareholder value for both Founder/CEO’s and investors. Having been through several different startups and as a consultant to many more, he brings he ability to provide fiscal discipline and years of experience to the entrepreneurial vision and passion that is necessary to deliver results.
William grew up in Los Angeles, California and attended college in San Diego where he received his degree in Computer Engineering. While in college, he started his own computer consulting business which delivered quality development services to small and medium sized businesses throughout Southern California. Following that experience, he attended UCLA where he received an MBA and a Masters in Computer Science. From there, he moved to New York where he worked for a money center bank in investment banking for several years. Then, he co-founded an investment management technology company in San Francisco which became the gateway to other successes in the financial services industry. William also leads his own management and financial consulting firm, based in New York, supporting early-stage companies across a variety of industries.
While not a car aficionado by any stretch of the imagination, William is fascinated by the opportunity to bring his financial and technical acumen to help grow an international company. e-Drive Retro is a cutting edge company that is built on the passion of its visionary leader, Michael Richardson, but could not have gotten to where it is today without the combined efforts of many people from across the globe. From the U.S. to Estonia, Finland and beyond, the amalgam of experiences, skills, and even battle scars makes this an opportunity that William could not refuse. So he doesn’t know a differential from a distributor, but his ability to translate the domain knowledge of the experts into a business model that people will buy into, and invest in, makes his skills an integral part of the team.
In a previous life, Harri must have been MacGyver. This explains his uniquely resourceful hands-on approach to complex problem solving, combined with an engineer’s view on challenges and a researcher’s attitude toward decisions. Harri embodies the “Lead-by-Example” approach and he instills these values in his engineering teams as well. Harri has over 10 years of practical experience in the design and development of innovative road vehicles. He has recruited and led multiple superb teams with well-known successes in engineering and delivering several great applied research vehicle projects. Harri is possessed by the supreme engineering and logistics challenges of envisioning, then creating advanced vehicles all the way to actual road legal reality. Harri’s passion and ambition is to relentlessly strive for better product, quality and innovation at E-Drive Retro.
For Harri, it starts with the team: in 2015, when they first met and discussed our CEO’s concept for E-Drive Retro, Harri immediately understood and signed-up for the challenge. The excitement he had for E-Drive Retro was irresistible from day one. Ever since then, Harri has helped our team grown with his contributions to our multicultural and multi-disciplinary atmosphere. In Harri’s own words;” These cars are very special for the team and I. Each one we engineer will be unique and will have place in our own engineering hall of fame. They are not just great products featuring our technology, they’re machines of pure passion: Combining vintage cars with the most modern electric vehicle technology, while maintaining the original look and feel, really gives and edge to our product. This “Back to the future” edge is something that I feel will be the key to our success.”
Harri received his BSc degree in automotive engineering from Helsinki Polytechnic Stadia, then his MSc in Mechanical Engineering, with a Minor in Composites Engineering, from Aalto University. He is currently pursuing his Doctoral degree with the Aalto University, Department of Applied Mechanics.
